Melbury Greenstone have a comprehensive range of saws from 2.7 metres down, to enable us to handle any cutting order. We have the capacity to cut 600 cubic feet per week. Our Masons shop has vastly experienced banker masons to work all aspects of stone. We are a specialist company for the cutting and working of stone.

Greenstone is used extensively in and around Dorset, but also it can be found on the Isle of White, the Severn Valley, the Sussex Downs and in and around Hastings and Goodwood.

Shaftesbury Greenstone was laid down in the Cretaceous period, between 65 and 146 million years ago. The saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury is mainly built of the stone including the Saxon Abbey in 880, and the famous Gold Hill has not only houses built from this stone but also the cobbles on the hill itself.

Although we specilise in Greenstone we also cut and work many other stones, to suit customers requirements.
